Located on the south side of Huangshan,, Xidi Village boasts hundreds of well-preserved residences from the Ming and Qing Dynasties and roads paved with marble.Be warned that is alarmingly easy to become lost in its labyrinth of its 99 high-walled lanes.

The village is surrounding by mountains and two streams flow through it.There used to be a “Di Pu”(递铺,the ancient Chinese version of a post office)in the village,so it was eventally renamed Xidi.According to historical records, the village was founded when Li Hua, sonof Emperor Tang Zhaozong, fled to the area to avoid civil unrest.During Xidi’s most prosperous period, believed to be at the beginning of the Qing Dynast, there were said to be almost 600 residences in the village.Xidi Village was listed as  UNESCO World Heritage site in 2000.
