Description

Our China Classic tour, personally designed by our writers, takes in three of China’s ancient capitals as well as some of the most iconic scenery in China. Starting in Beijing, capital of the mighty Ming and Qing emperors, you’ll see Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, before heading out to walk a less crowded section of the Great Wall. Our writers will take you on cultural walks around the city’s historic hutongs and bring to life the city of centuries ago.

You’ll then take the bullet train to Luoyang, China’s little-visited capital of thirteen dynasties and ninety-six emperors. Among the highlights here are the Buddhist artistic treasures of the Longmen Grottoes. We then take a short ride to Xian, another ancient capital and home to the Terracotta Warriors of China’s first emperor Qin Shihuang. You’ll follow that with a river cruise and time spent exploring the area around Guilin. The phantasmagoric karst landscape and green waters of the Li River is considered China’s most iconic scenery. Your unforgettable Meet China adventure finishes in Shanghai, China’s largest city which blends a futuristic skyline with historical landmarks.

The Meet China Classic China tour will be led every step of the way by our authors who have all lived and travelled extensively throughout China and written books on many of the destinations. They regularly return to discover new hidden gems in each country, stay in the accommodation and experience all the excursions and activities. We believe their in-depth knowledge offers you a tailor-made experience that will deepen your understanding and enhance your appreciation of the achievements of Chinese civilisation.

The inaugural Meet China tour is planned for May, but this depends on sufficient demand; the group size will be strictly limited to 10-12 people. If you would like to learn more, please email us now for a brochure. harvey@makedopublishing.com
