Sichuan harbours some of China’s most magical ancient sites such as Moluo Village. Chengdu, the provincial capital, is the most important economic and cultural centre of West China, with a population of 14mn. Chengdu has a history of at least 2000 years and was capital to at least six breakaway regimes. Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, the busiest airport in central and Western China, has services to and from all major Chinese cities. Chengdu has four railway stations and is a major terminus.
